Berlin Wall Segment

A heavily graffitied segment of the Berlin Wall, the guarded concrete barrier that divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989, at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, PA.  The glass enclosure was extremely dirty and discolored from atmospheric dust and soot, and had dark, rusty rivulets from a frame of low alloy steel I-beams.

The enclosure was disassembled with suction cup attachments rigged to an aerial material handler.  The glass panels were cleaned with industrial glass cleaners and iron stain removers.  Particularly challenging was cleaning the large enclosure from the interior, as the space was nearly too tight to move around.  And we learned that all glass cleaners and squeegee heads are not created equal.  Slow trial and error revealed the highest quality glass cleaners and stain removers.
